Canadian based Wedding Republic announces the creation of an online wedding registry in honour of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton’s upcoming wedding.
All proceeds will be donated to The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, a fund that supports youth and environmental initiatives both in the UK and Internationally
“It was amazing to see the level of enthusiasm and joy expressed in Canada when the announcement was made,” says Hana Abaza, Co-Founder and CEO of Wedding Republic. “Prince William and Miss Middleton have proven to be exemplary public figures and we wanted to give people a meaningful way to wish them well in their future together.”
The foundation was chosen specifically by Wedding Republic after reports indicated it would be among the list of charities the couple would be asking guests to donate towards, in lieu of gifts.
While Wedding Republic’s cash wedding registry service is free for any couple, there is typically a 4.5% transaction fee charged to the giver. In the case of the Royal Registry, Wedding Republic has announced that the transaction fees collected will also be donated to The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry.
Anyone interested in donating can visit weddingrepublic.com/royal to make a donation. Donations can be made immediately until April 30, 2011.
Wedding Republic has also been in touch with the Governor General’s Office in Canada, which will forward the information to a spokesperson at Clarence House, the official residence of Prince William.
Details and additional information are available at here and contributions can at be made at weddingrepublic.com/royal.
