Bleu Plate Tours started in August, 2010, with one Downtown Lexington Walking Food Tour. But they are beginning the 2011 season with a new, additional tour - the Jefferson Street Walking Food Tour.
"Jefferson Street has some unique restaurants and entertainment options," stated Laura Mize, Tour Operator/Owner. "I was determined to figure out a way to incorporate Jefferson Street into my tours, particularly because I think it is one of the 'hidden gems' of Lexington." She continued by saying that her tour guests expect to get the 'inside track' on where the locals go, and Jefferson Street is likely not an area visitors would stumble upon themselves.
The Jefferson Street tour is offered on Sundays at 2 p.m. and is new in addition to the existing Downtown Lexington tour which are offered on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. While the Jefferson Street tour does cover some of the same area and restaurants that the Downtown Lexington tour visits, the majority of stops are in the Jefferson Street area.
"I am happy to have two tours with differing routes now," stated Mize, "because that provides an opportunity for tour guests to attend both tours and get exposed to even more of the wonderful culinary offerings and rich culture we have here in Lexington."
Bleu Plate Tours operate seasonally from April through October. Advanced tickets are required. Tour information and a link to ticket information and sales can be found on the website or by calling ticketing and information agent, Zerve, at 800-979-3370.
